Content: In this work, a linked flow solver is introduced combining 3D-Reynolds-averaged-Navier-Stokes and an inviscid through flow method modeling losses and deviation. The linking implies the exchange of flow information between both CFD codes, so that the 3D boundary conditions can be adjusted for each individual design. An asynchronous multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is applied as optimization strategy, accelerated additionally by various response surface models. New options configuring the fitness functions evolve from the linked solver. Besides the flow parameters of the optimized cascades, the flow characteristics describing the performance of the full axial compressor i.e. the overall efficiency are also used for the optimization. The potential of the linked CFD-solver in connection with the multi-objective optimization is demonstrated at a 3-stage axial compressor with inlet guide vane.
