Content: Supervision has its subject-specific roots in different professions and disciplinary approaches, for example, depth psychology, behavioural therapy-oriented methods, humanistic, system theory and constructivist approaches.

In the context of further differentiating counselling offers it is important for the understanding of professionalization trends to outline and present the lines of development.

The history of supervision is important for understanding the current situation. Therefore, the differentiated formats and their scientific theory principles are described.

The legal and professional policy framework conditions of supervision are outlined and described.

It is assumed for a successful supervision that a supervisor should have a good measure of salutogenic competences. Hence, different questions arise in the research process; the dissertation focuses on the prevalence and subjective significance of salutogenic concepts and their influences in supervision processes and in the personal life of a supervisor.
